RESUMEN
La obstrucción del intestino delgado es una emergencia médico-quirúrgica común, representa aproximadamente el 20% de todos los ingresos hospitalarios; como etiología principal se encuentran las adherencias postoperatorias en países desarrollados y en vías de desarrollo entre un 65-90% de los casos.
Debido a que no es sencillo definir basado en clínica, escenarios complicados con isquemia intestinal, se debe realizar una correlación con estudios de laboratorio y radiológicos para determinar correctamente la conducta terapéutica a seguir.
Este artículo es una revisión de la literatura de la obstrucción del intestino delgado por adherencias, del manejo médico y quirúrgico y las medidas de prevención de las adherencias postoperatorias.

ABSTRACT
Small bowel obstruction is a common medical-surgical emergency, representing approximately 20% of all hospital admissions; the main etiology is postoperative adhesions in developed and developing countries between 65-90% of cases.
It is not easy to define based on clinical, complicated scenarios with intestinal ischemia, a correlation with laboratory and radiological studies should be performed to correctly determine the therapeutic behavior to be followed.
This paper is a review of medical literature of Adhesive small bowel obstruction, the medical and surgical management and prevention measures for surgical adhesions.
